Release Notice [Datomic On-Prem]: After March 31st 2023, On-prem releases will no longer support running on Java 8

Datomic releases after March 31st, 2023 will no longer support running on Java 8. This is in accordance with Oracle’s announcement last year that they have ended public updates for Java 8 for Commercial use see: Java SE 8 End of Public Updates for Commercial Use

For a summary of release notices, see: Release Notices | Datomic

What does this mean for you?

If you are using Java 8 you should plan to upgrade to one of the LTS versions of Java that are supported by Datomic On Prem (currently Java 11 and Java 17).

You will need to update both Transactors and Peers running java 8.

What if I don’t want to?

You can continue to use any version of Datomic released prior to March 31st, 2023 on Java 8. However, Datomic Support reserves the right to ask you to upgrade as part of troubleshooting any problems you may encounter.
