- Fix: Prevent a problem where in rare situations indexing jobs can fail to progress indefinitely.
This message covers changes in this release.
I see the only difference in the CloudFormation template files are AMI IDs.
After upgrading, I’m still seeing tons of updates being required to the instance.
Is that expected?
Is that intentional?
I can’t just do an upgrade manually, since the instances are in auto-scaling groups and might get recycled, hence restored to this ancient state.
I can’t even restart the machine after an update, because it might trigger the ASG instance recycling.
A newer release of "Amazon Linux" is available.

@onetom Its expected that there are only changes to AMI ID. We have on-going and currently in-flight work to upgrade Amazon Linux AMI versions near their release. You are not expected to manually update these instances as you are correct that any cycle of the machine would reset back to what Linux we have built with. This is on us and we are actively working to get better.
